Hi there.

  1. That'll probably be a problem with the way the forum configures it's page numbers, so it's a bug.
  2. Again, that'll probably be a bug.
  3. Bug again
  4. Another bug....
  5. When creating a category, you need to turn ON post counts. Turn them on then go to cache & purge to recount members posts.
  6. Possibly a bug

I know not all answers will help you but hope at least one answer is of use to you

Thanks for the info.

When I edit category permissions, I don't see a post count option. I get six options, the first four of which I turn on, the last two being uploads and downloads, which I turn off. Where is the post count info?

Also, on the thing with regular members not being able to edit, at least one members has now reported having the ability, so we're trying to get him to clear his browser cache to see if it's something on his end.

Go to the categories area in the Admin CP, then click the edit icon to edit the category. You'll see the category name & description, and below that will be the option to "Increment Post Count". Tick that box.

The editing problem sounds a very strange one. You'll need to get Daimon to look into that one I'm afraid. It's a bit worrying if people in the same group are encountering different permissions though.

That only deleted post_edits not anything else (as I've just proved by deleting yours)

Hmmm... have you deleted any posts or topics on Pitch Side? That might be the cause? If it's not looking for a poll with a topic_id and instead just deleteing any polls it finds?

So far, so good.. well for me. No problems as far as I can tell, it's strange that you're having problems though.

Okay, I'll reply, then submit my option.

Can you create another one, then reply to this one?

Easiest way to check? Create a poll in a new topic on here, and we'll take it from there

Okay, just so we are clear, editing a topic removes the poll?

Let's get more info on it...

Is it when editing the first post in a topic?
Does the poll dissapear from the database or become "detached" (like it's topic id being changed to 0 for example)?

Not required. Just be careful when purging. If you want more control, do topics one-by-one

I can understand why you would want such a feature, however, I believe linking like that to be more of a trick on visitors who think it's a legitimate forum. It's much wiser to use the nav-bar for adding links, or editing the template to have a blurb of text on your index.

There isn't a way to turn it off no, the reason being that it stops bots from signing up. It's better to have a secure board than one full of spam bots

It definately should work.

I did a clean install of 1.1.5, set up a subscription, and managed to subscribe to it. Are you using any illegal characters in the name or description etc?

Actually, installing BabbleBoard is VERY easy. You can do an installation entirely online without copying files and changing folder permissions.

The install script is all web based as well, no editing of files, and it gives step by step instructions on what to do.

In your case, the installation did not go well, but this is certainly not the case for the majority of people who are using this software.

It'll be your connection that is slow, the forum runs extremely fast on all sites and servers I've viewed it on

Good, at least we're getting somewhere then!

Your PHP version and MySQL version are very similar to mine so it seems strange it never worked.

Have you tried running the install again?

If that doesn't work, open up install.php and you'll see a list of the tables. Just change $db_prefix to whatever you want your database prefix to be (it's normally kept as "babbleboard_"

Or rather it didn't install the whole database correctly.

Let's establish some facts, it'll help sort this out

  1. Is this a fresh install, or an upgrade from a previous version?
  2. What version of PHP and MySQL do you have?
  3. Is this being installed on a Windows or Unix server?
  4. How many tables are in your database? (There should be 24)
  5. How many fields do you have in the settings table? (I count 42 on here)

Can you tell me what's in your settings table in your database?

It needs to support Freetype as well.

Contact your hosts and they should be able to add the functionality for you.

Both of them?

uploader.php shouldn't be SR, just 1.1.5.

Download BB again and replace your copy with uploader.php with the one in the zip file and see if that works okay

Why would it overwrite old tables?

That's an upgrade script that does that, not install

Open up uploader.php and upload.php. What version is it?

It'll tell you near the top.

Can anyone that had trouble installing this tell me the PHP version they were using?

I've got a list of registered forums, so obviously it's working for some.

I'm not sure what the problem could be then Ali.

I did a search on the net and all it returns is bugs with PHP and recompiling the server.

Did you upload an image on a post okay?
